I have started this post so many times, different ways. And nothing sounds right. Or perfect. It’s not easy to blog about someone close to you being diagnosed with leukemia. Especially when that someone is a little five year old…a little five year old who is best friends with my own little five year old. A little five year old who belongs to one of my very best friends, someone more like a sister to me. A little five year old who, just a few weeks ago, was at my house playing and having fun and giggling his amazing little giggle. (he seriously has one of the. best. laughs. EVER.)

This is Grayson. If you have followed my blog and/or Facebook at all, you’ve probably seen his smiling face many times. He just started kindergarten this year and was loving every minute of it.

And now, his new temporary home is a hospital room. About a week and a half ago, he started feeling bad. His legs hurt. He had an occasional nosebleed. As the week went by it got worse. Both legs hurt. His neck hurt. A few strange bruises popped up. After a couple of visits to different doctors, his parents heard the news that they feared most. This horrible disease had taken over his sweet young body and he was working as hard as he could to fight it.

Grayson was diagnosed with leukemia Monday and has already been through so much–surgery and his first round of chemo to name a few.  But he’s a strong, feisty little boy with dance moves like you’ve never seen before. He has killer baby blue eyes that have already wooed all of the nurses taking care of him and continues to show what a sweet-natured boy he is by using his manners even when in so much pain. I know, he will beat this. But, he has a long road ahead. I love this little guy so much. I love his whole family, and to see them suffering is breaking my heart.

Please pray for them and for Grayson’s recovery. Pray that his mom, dad and three siblings will be able to stay strong for him and feel somewhat at peace through all of this. Pray for his doctors.  If you aren’t the praying type, some happy thoughts are very much appreciated.

I will be starting a separate blog for Grayson and his family so please check back here for the address in the next couple of days. For now, here are a few pictures from the last two days. He’s such a trooper.

Visiting with family. That’s little sister with the lollipop and baby brother and his Mom in the background.

Day two. A little pre-surgery meal.

Baby brother will be staying nights with them in the hospital because he’s still nursing. Yep. Mama is nursing a baby and taking care of Grayson. Her strength is amazing.

Baby brother gets a smile from him. Love this one.

His little bear that has comforted him through all of this…

There has already been a meal schedule set up that I will link to from the new blog. If anyone can think of anything else that might help or you want to ask about specific items or services, please, please email me. kristy@k-lanephotography.com
